Giving the future of theatre their first experience...
"My Traineeship with Oxfordshire Theatre Company gave me a brilliant and unique opportunity to work with friendly and supportive professionals on a brilliant small-scale touring show. I learnt lots, had the time of my life as I saw first hand how important it is to bring the magic of theatre into the heart of communities that would otherwise have little access to it." Marc Stratton, 19, Trainee DSM Alice in Wonderland.
Oxfordshire Theatre Company is committed to developing young people’s skills in theatre and has created the Theatre Futures Oxford programme to provide comprehensive hands on experience for local young people. A professional work-based programme for 18 - 25 year olds who want to enter a career in theatre arts and/or theatre-related professions, those accepted will choose an area of production in which they wish to develop their skills and gain valuable experience on a professional production.
Areas of interest may include stage management, choreography, lighting, design, costume and directing. Working alongside staff and artists who will provide mentoring and support, the young people will be encouraged to develop their existing skills as well as explore new areas of theatre production.
2010-11 Programme
Oxfordshire Theatre Company are delighted to have offered 4 bursaries to young people aged 18-25 years to work on the Alice in Wonderland production.
